Anne remembered
The taste of the honeydews
Which had never been the same again
The sapphire mornings
Was passed off
As certain enigmatic distance
It was a meditation on life and love
Illusions that had often fluttered around her head
Like nocturnal beasts but dissolved into a glimpse of scandalous story
(dedicated to a great poet, Dana Gioia)
