If Ice Should Form Around My Heart

If ice should form around my heart And love deserted me, My life should not be worth a jot And winter always be, Yet I would pray the spring should come And with it bring the thaw, Then frozen streams should flow again And I could love once more. But while the birds keep singing And the blossoms drape the trees, I'll dance for joy each day I live And float upon the breeze, Each morning I shall wake with cheer And like the lark then fly, Unto the banks of golden cloud Within the dawning sky.
