An Ant Way-Lost From Line
A Aniruddha Pathak

Altın Yaprak
Watching disciplined ants sans rank,
Marching in with a single flank,
Drums beat, nor is there marching tune,
Single minded, spring be or June,
A long line, never ending end,
From where, where to, and to what end?
Some do break line still here and there
To map the surrounding for food,
And I saw one, sure a brave heart,
Going far and losing the link
Like a lone soul lost in a wood,
In tune ah with her solitude!
And then it so happened,
There came to my mind's sight
A man of ways-means extreme
That knew not what he wanted,
Nor yet what he would achieve,
Not stopping still on his ways.
But then a thought came to mind,
Oh what a sacrilege?
I compared an extremist
With an all-truistic ant
That works hard and lays down life
In cause of its colony!
And then in my mystified mind
This beautiful truth I find:
An ant carries extreme freight—
Much more than her body's weight,
So does a man of extreme,
But only for a mad dream!
