Man, Moon And Moods

It was a pleasant evening rather rare And watching was I the varying sky. The sun had just called it a day And the sky was changing its shades— From harsh to mellow hues of joys and moans And from mellow to still softer more tones That ended with varied greys of a stone's. And soon the moon began to rise from East And my thoughts went to sun and moon. Sun is far, in somewhat unknown heaven But moon is closer home to us mankind, In brighter-dark moments of solitude, And always changing just as men too would— Ah waning and waxing as if with mood. Now pale and pallid, weak and wan, And then glowing joyful, looking radiant, Sun may be life giver, one that sustains, But moon ‘tis that understands men better, Nearer home and looking human, Alone like a man, always uncertain, Grey spots in white, and cratered flaws of man's! _______________________________________ Three stanzas largely in blank verse, the last three lines in each stanza with the same rhyme. ___________________________________________ Reflections |16.07.2019| Topic: men, moon, moods
