O To Know Oneself
A Aniruddha Pathak

Altın Yaprak
When once asked to introduce who I was,
I found it thanklessly daunting a task,
My thoughts made me wonder with a long pause:
Who's known him well— one forever wearing a mask?
The one in heart seems still far from my core,
A stranger still, more an unknown shadow,
Though a witness to my thoughts, acts and lore,
But I know a pretender—in friend's garb a foe!
My body's a tooth brush—to use and throw,
Mind, a monkey—out and eager to trick,
And intellect, not but a walking stick,
With them I struggle hard O to evolve and grow.
Not real me, the impostor sure I know—
He that struts around calling him ego!
