Said The New Year To Old…
A Aniruddha Pathak

Altın Yaprak
Against me, against my soul,
And with no will I play a role—
A role to me by time lent
To look somewhat innocent,
Feeling filled to brim with hope
Even if there is no scope,
To try and appear fresh
Ready to take a daring dash…
Look, I aught look a New Year,
Though there's nothing new, I'm clear,
Said to me Twenty Nineteen
That has just been.

There is little new about the year that dawns on 1st January, an arbitrary cut off point in space-time continuum. But man is fond of using set clichés, as this little ditty tries to tell us.
