Keep a critic close around, Build his hut right in your ground, Sans soap nor ever water, Get spotless clean your character. ___________________________________________________________ Given here under is the original couplet in Hindi script and its transliteration in English. निंदक नियरे राखिए, ऑंगन कुटी छवाय, बिन पानी, साबुन बिना, निर्मल करे सुभाय। Nindak niyare rākhiye, āngan kuţī ćhavāye, Bin pānī sābun binā, nirmal kare subhāye. Those that criticise you are truly your friends. Don't get put off by them. In fact keep them close by. Even build a cottage for them near your house.
