I claim true love can never last
but changes to regret
or even worse to bitterness
that we cannot forget
for I am certain love can fade
like sunset veils the light
but still it lingers like the stars
that yet control the night
and like the stars love beckons us
we always take the dare
I bow to the inevitable
I recommend great care
but when I claim that love can't last
please try to prove me wrong
and keep the fire of love alive
and burning bright and strong
