The ramshackle buses Going to the Sagar islands With the old, weak and shrunken Men and women During Makar Sankranti. Decrepit old men and women As pilgrims, pious devotees Going to the Sagar islands In ramshackle buses To get rid of sins But not sure of the journey end, How far-off the pilgrimage To be undertaken To reach the mythical Sagar islands With the Kapil Muni Ashrama? The old men holding faith In strict confidence, Beating the shivering cold, Fog and mist, Blanketing themselves Going to the Sagar islands, The Kapil Muni Ashrama As for a holy dip and penance Which King Bhagirath did for the Sagar sons, The old men shrivelled and wrinkled.
