Indian summer, Scorching sun, Burning earth Parched and dry With cracks and fissures And a country raked by Hunger, thirst and poverty, No respite from heat and humidity, Rising temperature and heat intensity But in contrast to these The forests greener, .cool and shady, The orchards and bowers so comforting And the jaruls and gulmohars beautifying the landscape Bearing the brunt of the heat wave, burning sensation And the hot winds blowing, scorching sun, God, water, water, Give us rains, rains and water!
