The Blue Boy of Vrindavan By Bijay Kant Dubey Beena 2021 (C) The Blue Boy of Vrindavan Author Sanjay Memorial Publication Chandrakona 2021 Preface I do not know it why have I written it, why have I chosen such a topic, The Blue Boy, The Blue Boy of Vrindavan to dwell upon, nor can I say to you the reason behind as for writing it, but only one thing that I can assure you is this that for quite a long I have been dispensing with Krishna literature, Krishna music and magic, whose melodies and charms you can hear and feel in as the undertones or overtones, which you may personally notice it reflected in, written under the impact of the Melody Divine resounding with Krishnabhakti or Krishnaprem, which but only a devotional heart can feel it. I have just tried to deal with the imagery, the photograph of the Blue Boy, the Blue Boy of Vrindavan and to lose in that blueness is it all, the Divine Blueness. Krishna, Krishna music only those can hear it, whoever gives an ear to the melody and rhythm doing the rounds. I do not want to discuss it more, just want, want to have a glimpse, a glimpse of his face, of the face of the Blue Boy, the Blue Boy of Vrindavan and this is enough to cast a magic and music of own, drenching me in Krishna imagery and idyllic pictures. The more I see him the more get I attracted by the blue beauty and this blueness is uniquely found in the objects of Nature and the things around which is but a thing to be felt within. Apart from that, there is something to be seen and marked in Shyama Sangeet, in marking the faces of Blue-necked Shiva and Shyama Kali. Lord Krishna himself asks Yasoda with regard to his being a little dark-complexioned and Radha fair. The Mystery of the Dark Blue Divine, how to say it? Dark is beautiful is the adage. Frankly speaking, I too feel it lucky in coming to mark the beauty of his blue imagery which I have come to feel and realize it after a very long time. How amazing and wonderful the colour is, the hue reflected in to be looked in utter astonishment! Krishna the Blue Boy, the Blue Divine, the Flutist fluting and calling! Now the book is before you to see and peruse and to say what it is in it, what it not; what I have realized and what I have failed to do while dealing and dispensing with Krishna music and magic quite personally. The Blue Boy of Vrindavan is a memorial poem; an imagistic one taking us to Vrindavan of yore, to Gokul, the banks of the Yamuna in a symbolic way opening the new vistas of thought and reflection. To see it otherwise, it is a poem of paintings, how the painters have painted, sketched and drawn the imagery of the Blue Boy. ------Authorly Note In the loving memory of my youngest brother Where you Shyam, Ghanashyam Playing the Murali, Where you Shyam, Ghanashyam Playing in the arbour, Under the tree shade By the river, On the banks of, While moving to the forest tract Where you, where you Krishna, Sri Krishna, The cowherd boy, Where you, you the Blue Boy, The Blue Boy of Vrindavan? Though I know it well the music will not end it, but instead of that I am attaching it for my reading and understanding of the imagery put in the art gallery of the heart which the artists have made and sketched as per their imagination. I do not know those painters but their art is here in a poetry form to be seen and appreciated. At the end of the poem, there may be some personal note and suffering attached to the crux of the poem, but these switch from personality to impersonality, subjectivity to objectivity to give an impetus to the poem under discussion. What it is in Shyam, Ghanashyam adding to sobriety, melancholy and to pensive reflection and brooding, melting of emotions slowly has been raised to a note of sublimity by making to Shyam and the notes breaking from His flute so that it remains up to that standpoint. When we say Shyam, Ghanashyam, something of Shravana takes it over, the weather being cloudy and the clouds hanging over the hill ranges and the forest tracts and here the mood lies it pensive enough. The poem is a recreation of Krishna imagery as seen in paintings and images. I do not know why the imagery is blue, but have concentrated on here in this piece of devotional writing which is mythical too at the same time. There is something of music, something of melody; something of imagery, something of painting. The Blue Boy with a crown over the head and with a flute stands He fluting, taking our hearts away. Shyam, Ghanashyam, with which the poem begins or continues with finally gets tuned to the flute and the breaking of its melodious notes so inspirational and lyrical indeed so consolatory. Those who can feel it about can tell of the mystical feeling otherwise it cannot be. At least try you to see the picture for being tuned to His murali. The musical notes engulf us with the melodies breaking, taking us far away from here into a world of fancy and imagination, dream and soothsaying. Why to fear if He is with us? Have you ever heard the music of the Blue Boy? Have you ever felt the magic of the Blue Boy of Vrindavan? If not, first feel you it and then say to me.
