Charles Gamage Eastman, born on June 1, 1816, in Fryeburg, Maine, was a writer and newspaper editor. The editor of the Montpelier newspaper, Vermont Patriot, Eastman authored Poems (Eastman & Danforth, 1848). Some of his verse was set to music. He died on September 16, 1860, in Montpelier.
