Death's Shadow

Death's footsteps echo chilling the mind Following, creeping closer bringing us down Snatching away the soul and taking away the light Engulfed within mysterious darkness. From birth Death follows close upon our heels Waiting the chance to end life's journey Banishing the body into the cold silent grave. Death, relentless measures days and nights Never outwitted nor outpaced, life's deadly foe, Making presence starkly known at grieving funerals With families gathered weeping for the dead. Old age enhances fear of Death's embrace With years slipping ever quicker bye And hope of Heaven far more pressing.
