I Caught A Glimpse

I caught a glimpse of you today Walking down my street Skateboard under your arm Long blond hair flopping over your eyes And those baggy skater boy pants. My breath caught in my throat My heart stumbled over its beat When I suddenly realized that It couldn't be you after all. First because you are no longer here You are gone Senselessly murdered for A grand total of two thousand dollars And a few grams of cocaine. The second reason I remembered That it couldn't be you Was because when you were so brutally Taken from this world You were no longer that teenaged Baggy jeaned skater boy But a man of twenty eight A man who maybe hadn't Necessarily made the correct Choices in life But certainly didn't deserve to Have your life taken in such a Horrific and despicable manner No person deserves that. Despite the choices you chose And the lifestyle you lived The man I knew Still had the innocent heart Of that young skater boy You showed me the kind side Of your personality Your sweetness and caring Your love of life itself. Although you have been gone Many years now I still think of you often Your memory will Forever remain within me. I caught a glimpse of you today Or so I thought......
