From distant childhood, she grew up craving Deprived of love and tender caring Her mother's death in childbirth paved An essential need a child had to waive. In sterile parenting her father tried, To raise five daughters all in stride. His excessive anger bred from grief Sowed a deep sadness with no relief. Her unloving siblings, they gave vent To grave abuse and tantrums spent Her childlike psyche warped, distorted In age had grown, but now aborted. Physical presence failed in fruition To give her a bond of mutual affection Discord and revenge was her frenzied stage A child whose life was broken by rage. Yes she grew up with fragile emotions But my father loved her inspite of conditions At last in his young arms she had found The love that would keep her safe and sound. But Fate had a cruel game to play Another woman had taken him one day It broke her heart in sheer desolation Only in God did she find consolation. With the passing of years, all had departed. Her father, her siblings, and her dearly beloved. Now in her eighties, she is still a survivor In health and in wealth, a mighty victor. With unwavering faith and rock endurance By grace from God she ran her distance With all of us children, she tackled her life on Even when Pain gave her a marathon. Her legacy welded in emotional scars Speak volumes of lessons I have learned so far The years built her monument in this heart My dear mother is Emilie, of her I am a part. I Love You Mom!
