Why Do You Write At All?

Why do you write at all, Why heed Poetry's call? Is writing your worthy cause, Do you write just for applause? Why do you write the lines That your feelings and thoughts define? Are these just for your Ego, For attention that you crave so? True artists do what they do, Because that is for them true joy. The praise their Art may reap, Is but partly a reward they keep. Writing is a blessed passion, It's the gift that gives satisfaction. In doing it one births something, Poems can be a blessing just for being.
