We were always together
as much as weather
was
weather.
'Like two peas
in a pod...by God! '
as the man said
when he saw us
& laughed
his head off.
We only smiled
with little Mona Lisa smiles
seeing no one
but each other
holding hands
& jumping through
a rain washed
hopscotch
our breaths
mingling in the frosty air
the words
I LOVE YOU
held there
for ever for all
to see
our first big love
& neither of us
not yet
9.
