Holt Marvel
(real name Eric Maschwitz)
sweats over
his song lyrics
in the summer
of '36.
I sing it now
all over the house
from the shower
as I Hoover
do the dishes.
It follows me
around.
Holt or Eric
was then romantically linked
to the wonderful Chinese-American
actress Ann May Wong
real name
Wong Liu Tsong
(Frosted Yellow Willows) .
They part &
he leaves
Hollywood for
England.
The song reflects his longing
for Tsong.
THESE FOOLISH THINGS
make me smile
sing it all over
again
