Habit - definition
A behavior pattern acquired by frequent repetition.
It is hard to break a habit,
especially now at 72.
I've been shaking hands
All the days of my life.
Shaking hands with friends and strangers
Across the Chess Board of Life.
Now, as my wife and I
Shelter-In-Place.
Venturing forth only
Food and such.
On occasion I extend my hand,
Force of habit.
People recoil and step back.
I apologize and move along.
Too old to change.
