A Throwaway Society

We live in a throwaway society and hardly anyone appreciates anything they got. Years ago, we looked after everything we had; if it got broken, we mended it. Now if something gets broken, most discard it in a bin, then go to the local shops and start all over again. It seems to me there is no appreciation anymore, even when it comes to food. They talk of the world’s starving, yet everyday tons and tons of food is just thrown away. When will someone ever say stop, don’t throw that away, fix it for another generation so they can learn and play. As for the food lets stop the wastage there. If we did that, there might well be enough to share and no baby in the world would go hungry anymore. 6 May 2008
