Accept Me As I Am

All my life I’ve always worried what others thought of me. When I was young, I was self-conscious about the way I looked and then about the job I did. The worries just compounded driving me back into a shell of loneliness. It took me a long, long time to realise just who I was. If someone didn’t like me that was their problem. I was who I was, not what everyone else wanted me to try to be. If no one liked what I did that was their issue not mine so long as it was legal, I was who I was. Why should I pretend to be someone I was clearly not? Now that I am older, I don’t really care anymore. You can accept me as I am and if you don’t, then tough. Don’t try telling me I’m wrong in the way I think because your words don’t matter anymore. 8 June 2011
