As the warmth of summer
closes to the coolness of autumn
leaves change colours from green
to red, yellow, orange and brown
as the north winds of winter
put a chill into everything
and the leaves begin to whisper
in the long nights of winter’s call.
The glow of a warming fire.
Christians every home
as in the warming comfort
people enjoy their home
wrapped in each other’s arms
to ward off the chilling air
as autumn begins to close down
for the winter season.
Coloured leaves tumble to the ground
laying a coloured carpet
under your feet
as you walk around.
The trees stand bleak and bare
highlighting the fact
that around the corner
is winter waiting so near.
