The Warming Glow

The warming glow of an open fire takes away the all the misery of long winter nights when you are on your own. The dancing flames crackle and light up pictures of many yesterdays. Sitting in a chair we close our eyes and dream of times gone by, the children with smiling faces as they wait in anticipation of Christmas Eve and Day with stockings hung on the mantelpiece, and presents under the tree. The morning arrives with excited voices as stockings are emptied and presents are open. Looking outside the sky is grey waiting for the snow to fall and a white blanket to cover the ground. People are singing of a white Christmas that has finally come to pass. With icicles hanging from the eves as smoke billows from the chimneys now Christmas has arrived with smiles on everyone face and peace to all. 6 December 2015
