Will I Look Again

As I look around me
at everything my eyes can behold
I wonder if I will ever return
to see another sunrise.
Will I look again at the rolling hills
that have enchanted me
during my holiday,
or the small harbour
where sleeping boats lay?
Will I smell the scents
of autumn’s turning winds
or see all the creatures
Mother Nature likes to bring.
Will I one day return
to enjoy the peace and beauty of it all.
Only the future holds the answer
and it’s not prepared to tell.
