Penetrating darkness of lockdown Pervades mind and body. Hour after hour, endless days Confined in a small room. Four walls closing, tick tock goes the clock. Long days and longer nights Day after day media reports, Oh those daily reports. The number of cases, and the dead, Each number aperson. Those heroic doctors and nurses, Their total sacrifice. Their call of duty, their commitment. And all we did was clap. While we are locked down, isolated Engulfed in our own thoughts. Isolated from our families While the fog of Covid Catches the unwary and the old With every timid breath. Their new home six feet in frigid earth For all eternity.
