Memories Never Sleep

The remainder of 2021 now Dwindles in the hourglass as I collect my scattered thoughts Walking around the marina. A lone fisherman sits mending His nets with an eagle eye. Nets mended with skill and Dedication, and even love. But that's life, we all have nets That have to be repaired at some Time with love and care as nets, Hope and love are the fabric of life. I sit in a cafe watching the gulls Overhead, with their taunting Cries as they circle in the chill air. They have no nets to mend. They have no memories either, Scavenging day to day for meals Where no love is lost in the circles Of their lives, unlike us humans. 2021, in its cold and final state, Begins to close it's shutters For a final time leaving only our Memories that never sleep. The hour glass will turn, and a New Year will open with a plethora Of accumulated problems of Covid And climate change, but also of hope.
