I walked around our marina Earlier today, The winding path glistened silver With last nights heavy rain. Most of the yachts have now been Moved from their moorings As major maintenance work on Their mooring pontoons continue. Walking back on the eastern side With the wind in my face I walked towards the sail bridge With cold hands in my pockets. The Council's failures in full view As the usual plastic bottles and Plant debris were floating out to Sea on the ebb tide, much of it Had already passed over the bar. Stepping on the sail bridge I thought I saw her, my eyes Wide open and my heart skipping A beat hoping it was her. As we slowly walked closer I could See it wasn't her, and in passing saw She had cold blue eyes, and her hair Not as blonde. I reflected on those lovely soft brown, Eyes, her blonde pony tail swishing From left shoulder to right as she Walked, and that beautiful smile That would take my breath away, And lit her entire face. I smiled, But I'm saddened at the same time As I still miss her. Once over the sail bridge I walked Towards the supermarket cafe A few minutes away thinking lovely Thoughts of her. The cafe is never full, nor does it have Anything healthy to eat, but I can Sit there overlooking the river and Gather my thoughts for a short while. As usual the gulls were circling above, Or bathing in the river, while the Cormorants stood on plastic barriers Spreading their wings sunbathing.
