My Mind Takes Flight...

Looking up at the dark starry night I let go and my mind takes flight Wondering about life itself Forgetting all about power and wealth. Remembering what I had left behind To get a place in life so high Seeing how far I've really gone I have no regrets - except one. A chance to be free and spontaneous Till it got in the way of my goals Which came in my life first Never knew blessings could be cursed. But alas, they just brought misery Success, surprisingly empty Though great, when I look I find Blank symbols, victorious but vile. I never had a chance to explain It was time to stop playing games I once thought were unimportant Until I stopped using my heart. Too scared to take too many risks Too afraid to fall into a pit Did things so utterly stupid Eyes closed, heart about to bleed. Staring at the full moon sky tonight I know we watch the same old stars I only wish I fully understood Why I am alone here so far apart.
