The Saddest Rose...

My eyes have beheld the sight of the saddest rose Here, you will eventually see, as this poem shows Lost for so long amongst a cobweb covered lawn That my inner mind’s hand has so carefully drawn. Beauty of such, entombed within a crystal stone Since when it grew to age, here left all alone More fairer than it’s transparent precious case As it has but such a single simple glory of grace. Allowing all to see the beauty of how naked is Without the covers or deception of any apsis As ghostly flesh dances wickedly within the eye Full, with some fine tincture, like life’s finest dye. Which subtly draws the sight to within it thereto More subdue than with the paler colour of hue More by that of seduction or wantoning with it That no stained mixture did ever care to admit. You can see crimson that flows through the veins Brighter than the sun’s darting radiant beams More gently stroked and drawn to the mere sight Hiding within it some happy concealed delight. Jealous colours lifted up into the boundless air For unspoken, to compete all at once is to impair Where neither too little or too much light is worth And the senses neither hide nor are brought forth. There is more daunting beauty than to commend Than if the naked truths left understood did end Not detracting all from that clean and subtle skin That had no other reasoning of pride at all within. Sadly encased within its crystal tomb was the rose bud Watching and feasting upon the sights so fractural The outer world dining on their own flesh and blood And drinking such tinctures that were so unnatural. Thus the rose could not help but shed a single tear As the rose, alone, untouched in its ghostly sphere Saw that the calmly winds did not dare blow or stir Blissfully unaware of the love that they do transfer. Stealing the moment, was a weak, soft, broken beam An idea of what their single combined purposes mean Reminding them that if only they should but discover Reminiscent of some scene of a lover’s taste cast over. Such struggle to juggle with these unknown senses While a rainbow of glaring colours laid defences Thus allowing to let this crystal encased rose be But they dared to go no further than we can see. So as a rule, how far is love in this life for them to teach The nakedness, the lust and sins they must never reach Lest they go too far in a life that will not allow to extend Limited by my minds arty wise hand, never to this end…. So the rose gathers itself into itself, once and for all Taking the scattered selves in its polished crystal ball Fusing them into one life and make them as one Where all it can see is the moon and the flashing sun. Ignoring all the dancing colours, hour after hour intent Watching the future come and go with the present And the petty shifting pictures of life outside, rushing In restless self-sadness, it soul’s spirit slowly crushing…...
