Compliant Joy (Mudita)

Buddhists say that if you feel happiness while seeing someone rewarded for good karma, in that very moment you are accruing merit. This is called 'going along with happiness' or COMPLIANT JOY (隨喜 suixi) . In the outpourings of poets we see their sympathies 'going along' with many things, which shows great connectedness. A poet's mind is like a switchboard buss, with many fine wires hanging out. Although there is precious little unadulterated joy to comply with, their capacity to 'go with' is antenna-like, capable of harvesting any joy that would be out there, Hence they probably accrue some merit because their heart is in the right place, just for having the apparatus ready. They would have MUDITA if they could.
