The lion cub begins to see A mother's love is pure, And who of us could disagree When that cub knows for sure? He nestles close next to her side As if without a qualm, Beneath her chin then to abide With thoughts of peace, not harm. And she in turn has no concern As they rest there entwined, And so from this, we all can learn And gently bring to mind. For life is not a constant fight, For each heart needs to give, To gain a measure of insight Of wisdom how to live. And Nature offers wise advice, Examples how to share, Beyond God's birds of paradise And creatures here and there. Denis Martindale. August 2021. This poem is about the magnificent painting Devotion II by wildlife artist Stephen Gayford.
