Great Tit Fledgling

A tiny bird, that much is true, But God grants time to grow, To learn, of course, what it must do, For all it needs to know. The time to rest, to eat and drink, Through all that God supplies, The time to nest, to rest and think, As each new sunset dies. Perhaps to see the circling moon, That glides across the sky, Majestically, yet fading soon, As sunshine joins on high. A rhythm set by God alone, Predestined long ago, His blessings yet not ours to own, As each moves to and fro. I envy all that you can share, When flying skies above, To rise and fall without a care, Surrounded by God's love! I see the colours on your wings, Your beak and tiny feet, And I praise God for all these things Because you look so sweet! Denis Martindale.29th October 2025. The poem is about the magnificent painting by the UK wildlife artist Stephen Gayford.
