The young giraffe had much to learn,
To stand, then walk, then run,
And yet, in truth, respect to earn,
Right there, from everyone.
Yes, life's a journey to be sure,
Just one day at a time,
And not just growing more and more,
Until one's in one's prime.
And adult life was yet to be,
Of that there was no doubt,
Without the sense of urgency
Before that came about.
And so, just one day, here and now,
No running to and fro,
But passing hours, then somehow,
The sunlight had to go.
The moon, of course, would take its turn,
Its silvered light to shine,
With mysteries none could discern,
Though things would soon be fine.
Life's new beginnings offered much
To those that stayed the course,
The joys of sight, smell, taste and touch,
And blessings God outpours.
