The Bloodied Cross!

Before the bloodied Cross of Christ had ever known such shame, The Romans deemed Him sacrificed to end His growing fame. That's why they scourged the Son of Man on that day when Christ died, And thus fulfilled God's holy plan when Christ was crucified. Thus Pontius Pilate played his part in this great tragedy, With three nails at the very start, the day Christ died for me. Between the thieves now facing death, the Saviour chose to stay, King of the Jews from Nazareth shared what the sign must say. A jagged crown of thorns was laid upon the Saviour's head And that, of course, was where it stayed until the Lord was dead. His head hung low, the crown fell off, the sated crowd then left, They came, they saw, to laugh and scoff, while Mary stayed bereft. Perhaps she screamed, 'Please get Him down! ' Perhaps she couldn't speak. Perhaps she walked straight back to town, some solace there to seek. Perhaps she fainted clean away, no strength to stand at all, Perhaps she knelt right then to pray for one last miracle. Yet Jesus stayed in plain sight still, a testament to faith, Upon that longtime vicious hill, determined to stay brave. His task at last was now complete, the perfect sacrifice, To lay before His Father's feet, God's Throne in Paradise. One righteous act that Christians choose, Christ's holiness to claim, Declaring it as God's Good News because Christ bore our shame. It's why each Christian daily prays, recalling Calvary! The bloodied Cross of Christ portrays God's greatest victory! Denis Martindale. 7th of March 2026. This Gospel poem is by the Poemhunter poet Denis Martindale and it is titled THE BLOODIED CROSS, because when believers are recalling Calvary, they remember the Redeemer, when Jesus, known as the Christ, became Christ, the King of Love.
