The Low Winter Sun: (December 14th,2020)

Altın Yaprak
The low winter sun bursts through my windscreen
Creating fragmentary diamonds of light.
I wait by the kerb and wonder if dreams
And visions seep through the deep cracks in time.
For where I am stationed, my old school stands
And I feel as though present and past are
One. Perhaps no- one truly understands
The sweet miracles of life. In my car,
I recline and absorb the rich patterns
Of meaning as the low winter sun burns
And glows like a strange god. Soon festive stores
Will open, and when I walk through those doors,
I want to retain a sense of freedom;
Despite crude masks and lingering boredom.
