Sonnet: Man’s Vanity-Show

Altın Yaprak
A typhoon hits a coast so severely
And leaves behind a million homes flattened,
Some dead: scores injured- some so grievously;
The people’s lives seem suddenly threatened.
The price of fuel has sky-rocketed;
The number of beggars has gone up too;
Appeals for help are rather well-knitted;
’Gainst Nature’s furies, whatev’r can men do?
Yet, countries waste their wealth in cause of science;
They search for life in near-by galaxies;
And men these days ignore their conscience;
The craze for wealth is man’s newer disease.
Whilst man has made progress in many fields,
His ventures mostly destructive end yields.
