Sonnet: The Human Tongue

The human tongue -a double-edged sword, 'tis, And meant to cut with words both good and bad; The former fills a heart with undue bliss; The latter makes a person pretty mad! The tongue can start a duel wordy fast, An argument that hurts in unseen ways; Bad words undo the good done in the past, And holiness of sages, learnt in days. Good words consoles a heart afilled with grief And brings forth smiles and laughter to a face; A warring faction makes peace in time brief, While prayers turns away the sinful haze. The tongue - a weapon, draws blood sans a cut, And heals the deepest wounds of heart too, but. Copyright by Dr John Celes 13-09-2017
