Sonnet: Two Contrasting Eras

Our parents brought forth children ten with bliss, And reared them all with love and care and toil, Ensuring that nothing ev'r went amiss, And never spared the rod, the child to spoil! Alas! We find it hard for one or two Children, who pampered spend their lives with ease; Care of the elderly, they never do, Remaining discontent and without peace! What sharp contrasts between two eras stay, As God is forgotten in modern age! We slog for wealth undue for future day, And put our love and duties in a cage. Our parents left us wealth invisible; We leave ill-health, Godlessness visible! Copyright by Dr John Celes 13-1-13
