Sonnet: When Trials Come …

When trials come more often than I bear, I ask myself, “Must Christians all suffer? ” Most worldly people appear to well fare; “Are tribulations for purpose better? ” “Why does God let the evil harm the good? ” “Oh, how much longer must I endure, Lord? ” “Do I suffer for sins of my childhood? ” “Perhaps, my faith’s being tested by God? ” God does not give us strife beyond limits; He wants to make us better Christians fast; But Satan tries to turn souls into bits; God gives us ‘Crown of Life’ by trials vast! When trials come, devils to us liest; Our suff’rings aren’t greater than that of Christ! Copyright by Dr John Celes 12-16-2006
