The Bereavement

A soul, I thought was close by me, suddenly left, for good, may be; My only son: I wonder why so early, he just had to die? The way God thinks is unlike ours; To Him are same, years, weeks and hours; No answer comes despite all powers Of mind and heart in earth’s bowers! So, things can’t stay, the way, we thought; Time’s management, to change, we ought; An aged man, in chaos caught still wonders at his now sad lot! Yet, we must face life as it comes; Some sorrows, grief and joy welcomes; ‘Endure it all, ’ our wisdom sums; At times, life gives whole bread or crumbs! The dead are sleeping in the dust; Death steals alike good souls, accursed; But life will soon end like a gust Of wind, before we love it just! Copyright by Dr John Celes 6-09-11
