This is knowledge
as an end in itself,
a knowledge which
satisfies desire and
thus brings pleasure
to the knower through
its acquisition.
It is deeper
than a natural or
social utility to
knowledge but
points to a kind
of knowing that
is valuable and
desired for its own sake.
This is Aristotle's view.
Acquiring the
intellectual virtues
is thus integral
to the good life
for human beings.
