Gone she is and the music along with her too is gone, But the fragrance though fading, still there is and remembrances of the morn: When the pink sun had first smiled from behind the hillock fold And the whole grassland and cedars had been painted in molten gold 'Twas then in my bosom she blossomed radiant as a thousand suns, And when she smiled, her roses bloomed with the sparkle of a million dawns! And so she sang, so quite enrapt I listened to her lilting tune, And as the hours flowed, I sat dreaming a palace on a sandy dune. But the narrow confine of my heart stifled her ample spirit And so she leapt and out into wide expanse of my garden she scurried! There she danced from flower to flower nor a bush nor a leaf could hide Her radiance, her boundless splendour as she waltzed from side to side. Where she walked the soft grass bowed as to cushion her treading feet, And the low-hanging boughs showered sweet flowers for her to greet! When I looked at her in her eyes she blushed and looked no more, But when I touched her, ah what surprise! she started and scurried on yonder. Her thoughts in my thoughts I harboured, pined for her sight and smell, And when I heard her in what sweet anticipation my beleagured heart did swell! !
