From the Cliff of Shadows, Shadow after grey shadow fell
That night!
The Splash was heard!
The Splash was magical!
From the Cliff of Shadows, Shadow after grey shadow fell
That night!
And all around the huddling cliffs and rocky hills
Flickered silent gray to vermilion-like
Come!
to descend
that slippery path down
down to valley floor
where the sea enters
where
high the walls of the valley-cleft
rise hideous in that silent tomb.
And from the Cliff grey shadow after grew shadow fell
As in a contest of Suicides!
