Heavy are my thoughts of you tonight, You, who's face fills me with sheer delight, You, whispering in my head through dreams so real, Why is it, that I so cherish what I feel. You, who have infused my heart with tenderness, Making me feel one thousand times so blest, Picturing you each time a thought peeps through, I can think of no one else but you. O, wisp of peace, that offers just a grain Of calm, how can I replace you in my brain, They say that time will ease the pain away, But everyday the grief comes into play. For you are gone, I can't believe it yet, I do not know, if I ever can forget, Heavy are my thoughts of you tonight, It is with dread that I put out the light! © Ernestine Northover
