I would not want to live for three or four hundred years
For of life i feel i'd become bored to tears
Three score and ten seems a long enough time span
For any woman or for any man.
If you believe every thing you are told
Methuselah lived to be hundreds of years old
For centuries beyond man's normal prime
For him old age must have been a boring time.
The gift of youth it is a marvellous thing
But pains and aches the onset of age bring
Decades ago those legs could move so fast
But one cannot live in the glories of the past.
I would not like to live for to be old and frail
As bald as a baby and stooped and stiff and pale
In a nursing home feeling bored and house bound
With a walking frame for to help me get around.
Three score and ten seems a long enough time span
For any woman or for any man
For like they say every dog has their day
And from seventy on 'tis down hill all the way.
