A devout and gentle person in his own quiet way
He often visited the Millstreet Town church for to pray
Dermy Keeffe was a great person of him one can say
If there is a heaven he is up there today
Yet a toasting glass to him it was never raised
And he was one never singled out for praise
I did know Dermy Keeffe as one free of taint
One of the rare few who did live as a saint
In his words he never dragged anyone down
To live as a great person his only claim to renown
A Millstreet role model when i was a boy
To be kind to others was his source for joy
A true gentleman and shy in his way
One does not meet people like him every day.
