Birds I Hear And See Often

They are birds I hear and see often almost every day The new Holland honeyeaters in black, gold and grey Distinctive on their appearance and their loud chirping song Once seen and once heard you never again get them wrong They defend their flowering bushes and trees in an aggressive way And from their territory manage to drive larger wattle birds away Tiny birds in the face of aggression who do not display any fear In their loud chirping they warn all other birds that a predator to their territory is near Two or three pink spotted eggs in cup of grass and twigs the female bird lay In a low prickly bush from view well camouflaged one can say At breeding time they do accept none as a friend Their eggs and their young with aggression they defend Mental images of them are not hard to retain Once seen and once heard you will know them again.
