Changeable July

The dark river bird with breast as white as snow The dipper sings where the babbling waters flow Through the old fields where the rank rushes grow By ditch and by dyke and many a hedgerow. Though the previous few days have been sunny and dry The dark clouds of rain are gathering in the sky The dark swallows chasing flying insects close to the grass fly A sure sign of rain in changeable July. I have loved Mother Nature since I was a boy And just learning about her a thing I enjoy The passing of time has left me looking gray But the love I have for her is with me today. I discovered her beauty many Seasons ago In the home of the badger and silver back crow And my wonder of her only does seem to grow Yet little about her I do seem to know. I now live in the Land of the wombat and roo Kookaburra and emu, lyrebird and cockatoo And though her wonders are many and her secrets not few From Nature each day I do learn something new.
