Dead In The Flesh Only

They may be deceased but in my memory they have not died My boyhood mentors from the far countryside Their wonderful insights with me does remain And in my flights of fancy I see them again If I said they were dead then that would be a lie For they will live in me 'til the day that I die Dead in the flesh only in memory living on To the faraway fields one might say they have gone I still picture them on the streets of the town On a nice Summer evening walking up and down Or working in the fields in view of the hill In Spring when the blackbird with the yellow bill Is piping his music on the leafy tree For as long as I live they will be living in me.
