Duhallow Rover

The wanderlust was in his blood he yearned for foreign places And Australia appealed to him with it's wide open spaces The outside World was calling him and he had dreams to follow So he left his home by Allow banks near Kanturk in Duhallow. He's been around the World since then the World of little pity He lived in London for awhile then moved to New York City And then he moved to Australia his roving days not over And he is best known by nickname of the Duhallow Rover. I last saw him in Spencer Street and foreign Lands still beckon He'll now go to South Africa at least that's what he reckon He boarded the train for Adelaide and that was last December Can't say if we'll ever meet again but him I shall remember. But who knows one day we yet may meet back home in old Duhallow When he has seen all there's to see and no more dreams to follow In Spring when Nature's in full bloom he'll return like the swallow When birds sing in the green woodlands and flowers bloom by the Allow.
